Tips for Working With a Single Colour

Working with just one colour isn’t as tricky as you might at first thing. Get it wrong and you could make your event look drab and unimaginative, get it right however, and you’ll create a daring, high impact look.

The key to working with just one colour is to vary styles and textures. For an event requiring lots of seating for example, don’t just use the exact same chairs or sofas in a single colour – that’s a recipe for disaster. Instead, use a variety of different furniture styles, and importantly, vary your textures as much as possible to keep things interesting.

Try experimenting with rich matt black velvet upholstery and pair with more reflective black surfaces like our black metal Toledo stools or a high-sheen polycarbonate like the Victoria Ghost chair in black.

Sticking to a single colour palette actually allows you to be quite playful, but it does require nerve and commitment! If you’re worried about making a space look too dark, you could try contrasting black furniture with bright white flooring and walls and go with a more monochrome look, or how about using sparse splashes of colour to liven things up a bit?

Don’t forget we also stock a great range of accessories to compliment any theme. Our artificial plants and black candelabras make a great addition to any event.
